Dakota Fanning y Kristen Stewart, las dos actrices adolescentes más cotizadas, incursionan en el mundo de la música. En el film "The runaways" ,en el que ambas son protagonistas, tuvieron que hacer el papel de "cantantes" para lo que dijeron fue el trabajo más dificil de todos los que han hecho.
Joan Jett (Kristen) y Cherie Curie (Dakota) tenían una gran pasión por el rock, para lo que las amigas se juntaron para ser parte de la primera banda famosa de rock femenina, pero debido al éxito, sus vidas toman caminos equivocados convirtiéndose en un infierno.
"Cherry Bomb" es el mayor éxito de la película intepretado por Dakota Fanning con la colaboración en fondos de Kristen Stewart. Acerca de la escena en que ella canta dijo: "Siempre he pensado que este es el trabajo más difícil que he hecho, porque me pongo nerviosa para dar lo mejor. Cuando canté, estaba muy preocupada porque no quería estropear la película".
